Dear Islander’s Administration

In the past I have always been a loyal customer towards islanders and its delicious food. The reason why I keep coming back is the different choice of food you serve there.

Unfortunately in my recent visit I had some concerns about the health and safety the food that you produce is up to par with the health code. When I approach the counter and I look to see inside your kitchen area, there are remains of food on the floor and trash that haven’t been cleaned in weeks. I was truly stunned and speechless to see how unsanitary your work area was. But I am still a loyal customer towards islanders and I know that their food is always great. So out of my way even though seeing that putrid kitchen I still order food. As the day has gone by and I head towards home my stomach grumbles. And I suspect that I have food poisoning. I know that I was jumping into a conclusion but it was for sure I had food poisoning when I got home and I headed straight to the bathroom. And from then on I was always spectacle about ordering food. As an owner to your restaurant, food and customer service should be priority. And to have good criticism about your food you must make sure you kitchen can produce edible food. Like some examples of clean and neat kitchens are Thai Herb Kitchen and Himalayan Kitchen. I believe that these kitchens are very well cleaned and cared for and I hope to see the islanders like that.

Some examples that I took from the F.D.A that could improve your kitchen is by to put leftovers away promptly, prevent cross contamination by wiping your knives and your cutting boards, and to clean your sink daily so that bacteria and germs don’t get on your dishes.

In addition to all of this your customer service is not all that great. By reading your reviews on yelp it seems like people have been complaining about a lady giving attitude towards your customers. But some of the reviews on yelp do have positive feedback about your food, which is awesome no doubt.

All I wanted to say was to keep your kitchen clean and neat so more customers will be coming in. overall you have been doing a great job running your restaurant.

Sincerely,

Branden Pascual

Risky Business Draft

America today is faced with many health problems obesity, diabetes, and cancer. But one major concern that affects teens today is alcohol abuse. Studies show that in the recent month over 50% of sophomores through seniors got drunk because of alcohol abuse. Teenagers now are abusing alcohol more than ever, parents need to know how greatly in danger their teenagers are and how highly they are influenced to do it.

When teenagers often drink alcohol they are more likely to drop academically. Studies show when teenagers don’t drink alcohol they are more likely to excel in academics and achieve A’s and B’s. But on the other hand when teens take the other route they are rather getting grades like C’s D’s or even F’s. So parents do play a big role into teens academic wise because if your child is getting low on grades and you know he/she is abusing alcohol you should do something about it.

Parents if you know, that your son or daughter is drinking alcohol you must do something about it. Encourage your child not to drink alcohol and tell them the risk and consequences that could happen because you abuse it. For example if a teen were to abuse alcohol they might feel withdraw from family members or starting arguments with your family. Also fatigue, glazed eyes, and a negative attitude. You would not want that for you child parents. So parents you must take action into letting your teen know that the legal drinking age is 21 and that drinking can cause serious health injuries. In addition to talk to your kids about how to say no to alcohol because it’s most likely that there being peer pressured into do it.

Parents need to get more involved in teens today because of the easy access of alcohol. Parents not only need to watch over their teenagers but also keep an eye out on their own alcohol at home. Make sure teens can’t have that access to alcohol without your permission or knowledge. Also talk to your teens about alcohol ads because they are everywhere and even though they might not be targeting teenagers they are very persuasive ads that could get anyone into abusing alcohol. Teach you child a lesson whenever your sitting on the couch as a family and a alcohol ad pops up, tell them how bad abusing alcohol can be dangerous towards you life.

Now you know the terrible consequences about alcohol abuse in teens because its one of the nations major causes of deaths, drinking has been a problem ever since. Parents also now know how to prevent their child into abusing alcohol and telling their child how dangerous consuming it can harm teens. I hope that one day teens will forever know the horrible things abusing alcohol can not only affect you but people around you as well.

College Essay

Describe the world you come from—for example, your family, community or school—and tell us
how your world has shaped your dreams and aspirations.

In my life, I begin my journey by saying the word Momma and Dada. My family, they have raised me to be an independent human being that knows the right path and future I want to have. I come from a small island basically in the middle of the ocean. It’s a beautiful place like no other there are waterfalls, beautiful beaches, and nice local people. My parents wanted this for me ever since they gave birth to me. They wanted an environmental friendly place for me to grow up in so when I go and experience the real world I will realize how it is and teach my kids the same way.
During my early years as a young toddler still a vivid memory for me but a dramatic event happened to me. My parents I thought to be the kindest people on Earth at the time wanted a most dreadful deed. I thought it was I or if it was something I did wrong, in my head I was thinking to myself was this my fault. But eventually what happened was my parents divorced and at the time I didn’t care because I was so little. But I realize now how hard it is for me to take in at this age, how bad I would have feel when I was younger. My dreams now has been to always make my parents proud of me, and to know that whatever I do with myself my parents will feel proud of me. That feeling you get when your parents look at you and they smile is nothing comparable to reaching the stars. The world is full of many things and opportunities, once I grasp hold of that single chance I get I will take it and try to turn it into something amazing. The first step to that is getting into your college, knowing that I will have many opportunities to make my parents know that I am the best son that they could ever imagine.

Word choice graphic

A man and a woman separated  on the edges of a steep cliff. Trying to save their child, bringing her over to have a secure life.

Word Choice Graphic

A boy holding a rifle on his back relieved from his past. On his hat, a flower representing peace that he has gone through and the people who sacrificed their lives.

Coming of age

What goes through your mind when you imagine yourself as a freshman going to high school? Scared, nervous, shaky, overwhelmed. Well I was mostly all of those things as a freshmen going through high school, it was very tough and agonizing. But before the year I made goals for myself; find new friends, join a sport, and get decent grades. This is my life started to turn around and change myself to becoming a better person.

As I go searching for my identity in high school I stumble upon this sport called wrestling. At first I thought is it WWE kind of wrestling but its not. After my friend explained what it was I wanted to try it out and see how it will be. When I first met the coach for wrestling Eddy Gudoy I thought he looked like a chill and easygoing coach at first. I got to know him a bit before practice before we started.

But I was wrong Coach Eddy was tough and really strict when it came to practice time. I’ve never been so pushed hard in my life before. But this was a change point in my life where things got hard more challenging. Lifting weights is another part of becoming a good wrestler. Even though I never lifted weights before I am willing to try something new.

With this new sport it comes with new responsibilities like time management and keeping up with schoolwork and grades. So what I did to make myself more accustomed to my lifestyle now is to be more productive and efficient when I work. Also having to be more studious now because of grade checks. With this new sport that I’m involved in my parents expect more from me because of all the activities I’m doing.

From then on my life and my wrestling sport has been a great success and I am happy the way I am now. Because right now I am a stronger and healthier person now then I was before because of the changes I made when I was a freshman. Its gotten me the way I am now more independent, hard worker, and responsible for my own self.

Changes

What i did to my new blog is chose a new template in the background because before it was messy and hard to see. So now it should look more clean and understandable. What I also did was make a new picture from scratch using photoshop and aperture.

Who to blame?

Tourist have came to hawaii for many years and many more to come. But some tourist do not know the safety and the dangerous things hawaii has to offer. The case with David Potts a 44 year old tourist was foolishly dancing around a blowhole at Nakalele point. and without noticing anything a wave came up right behind David and knocked hime into the blowhole killing him. In my opinion the one to blame is the tourist because its not the state fault. This is because signs were issued by the blowhole to be cautious to be aware around your surroundings and to watch out where you are going.

Even after one day after Pott's accident another person was knocked off a cliff 100 yards off shore this would not happen if the state would put more signs warning anyone to be aware or to stay off from the cliff side. I think it was the states fault on this one because of the lack of signage they issued to keep people safe.
